The Madness Is Here

I only want one thing, and it’s one of these in my hands

It really is such an endorphin rush to grab a freshly printed bracket. Ink still drying, paper warm to the touch, maybe even a little cut on your index finger. What a time to be alive.

Before we get into my March Madness Preview, I want to recap my champ week brackets.

Correctly predicted 2 of the ‘Power 6’ conference champions, including Oregon who was 12/1 to win! UConn was obviously the favorite in the Big East at -135, but a win is a win nonetheless. My ACC and Big 12 picks, UNC and Houston, both made their conference finales and were favorites to win the game.

The non-power conference tournaments were a little less friendly… Lots of red and only had one champion advance to the finale.

Now to the fun stuff, the REAL bracket. Originally made on paper, now transferred to the iPad so I can share it here.

GOOOO COUGARS!!! Big 12 staying on top as the best hoops conference and will win its third Natty in 4 years.

In all honestly, I hate it. The last time I saw Houston play, they looked AWFUL. I really sat there and watched the Cyclones whoop them, and then have them going on a 6-game winning streak to cut down the nets in Glendale? No clue how that makes sense.

While I hate the champion, here are a couple of takes I like this year. These might not all be reflected in my bracket, but I might be betting these if the situation arises.

Auburn stays hot, but not too hot. A couple wins but not going to get past UConn.

The Tide will rebound from their early exit last year.

Dayton is NOT on upset watch. Could even win a few more games after Nevada…

The only top 6 seed that can with the Midwest is Creighton. That said, I’m taking Texas to come out of this upset-filled region.

BYU is on upset alert… Dae Dae Grant is HOT right now for Duquesne.

A-10 Tournament MVP Dae Dae Grant

Lastly, Wisconsin is getting to the sweet 16. A Duke matchup could be one of the best games of the tournament, but I think the Badgers survive weekend #1.

I don’t know if anyone else can relate, but I have flip-flopped on so many thoughts this week. I can’t tell what thoughts are my own, or thoughts from my friends, or podcasts, or TV coverage, or the radio, or literally made up. I wrote down ‘Yes Dayton’ on Monday, then scratched it out on Tuesday, now have already bet their ML and picked them in my bracket. I tried my best to stick with my original bracket and just bet any opposites that I feel come up throughout the tournament, but I don’t know what’s up and what’s down at this point.

I do know one thing though. I’m so pumped for this week. Games, games, and more games. Enjoy it.

Best of luck to everyone’s brackets and if you want to join the Rick’s Radio bracket challenge, you can do so here!
