After my workout yesterday, I went to the gas station and stood outside the refrigerated section staring at all the different sports drinks. Since there was not any grape propel, I settled for a yellow gatorade. Not the most sexy choice, but definitely a safe one. Anyhow, here is a list of what I find personally to be some of the most elite sports drinks/snacks that are/were on the market. Time to do a little free advertising I guess for our millions of subscribers.
Grape Propel

I already mentioned it, so it might as well start it off. The drink is completely slept on. It has 0 calories, 0 added sugar, and has great taste. Simply put, Propel is top tier, and it is always my first choice. The other flavors are pretty damn good too. Why every gas station in American doesn’t sell this stuff is beyond me.
My cousin’s child calls it “good stuff water.” Probably because this drink is good stuff. Plus, I am pretty sure I saw Lance Armstrong drink it on TV once as a kid but I could totally have that wrong. 15/10.
Gatorade Energy Chews

You remember this stuff?
Picture it: you’re in little league and the team mom offers you a sleeve of these bad boys. You eat it and have the best game of your life. It’s all because of the Gatorade Prime Energy Chews. You go home and boot up the PS2 to rip some good ole’ NCAA football. Life is good. Hell, if someone offered me a box of these right now I probably wouldn’t get winded walking up a few flights of stairs. ELITE stuff. Plus they taste like candy. 12/10.
This Bottle

Anything that comes in this gatorade bottle right here automatically tastes better. I bought one the other day to make sure that this theory is still true, and I can confirm. It doesn’t matter what you put in here, I am drinking it. Slick design, how you drink from it is unique, and it might make you reminisce on your glory days. Maybe it’s just me, but 10/10.
Purple Powerade

Might catch some heat on this one as some of my closest friends have all come to the consensus that blue Powerade is the best, but that is simply not true. It’s purple. It is quite possible that I just have a thing for grape (judging by the grape propel), but I think it is a totally rational opinion that purple is simply the best flavor. Don’t get me wrong, blue is the second best flavor. And I can totally see how someone can like the blue flavor more. But let’s not get hysterical and say red, because if you do, you’re a child and you are simply just wrong. Purple: 9.5/10 Blue: 9/10 Red: It’s not as good.

PowerBars

I am not sure if this is a hot take, but do they still sell these? Because I feel like I never see them but I remember them being so good. I think that they have completely disappeared from stores, but apparently amazon sells them now so I might have to check that out. I recommend you doing the same, because these bad boys beat the hell out of cliff bars. I could probably run a 4.43 40 if I had one of these in my system. Just for that it’s a 10/10 for me.
Gatorade (Thirst Quencher)

8/10 ranking, just thought for fun I’d include the gatorade that I was talking about earlier. Something about the yellow thirst quencher really can get me through a hangover (or just a random afternoon I guess)
Whey

Even if you don’t use it now, you have used it before. Let’s be real, it’s one of the better options out there. My mom even used to put some of it in pancakes or muffins to get me to bulk up for football season during the summers in high school. Gained like 10 pounds before my senior year. Aren’t moms the best? Proven results, and a proven source of protein. I don’t even use this stuff anymore but it’s still a 9/10 for me.
O.G. Gatorade

It would be criminal to not throw in ‘ole reliable on here. Gatorade is iconic. Plus they have some pretty sick commercials. Can’t really go wrong with any flavor, though I prefer the light blue (not grape, I know what a surprise). Here’s the ranking anyways
- Cool blue
- Glacier Freeze
- Yellow
- Glacier Cherry (the white/silver looking one)
- Purple
- Red
- Orange
- Everything else I guess (I have to be missing a good one somewhere here).
Also special shoutout to G2. Though not as prevalent as the normal gatorade, the G2 is pretty solid as well.

That’s about all I got for now. What am I missing? Curious to see what everyone comes up with.
